PLAVE Profile – Unique and Successful Benchmark for Virual Idols (2025 Updated)

PLAVE is a boy group under VLAST, an intellectual property (IP) content production company. While PLAVE is a virtual idol group, the members are not AI-generated, but rather real people, with motion-capture technology being used to track the movements and expressions of each member to create anime-like avatars for them.

The group officially made their debut on March 12, 2023, with their 1st single album, “Asterum”. They have since been enjoying phenomenal success, marking a new chapter for virtual idols.

Name, Fandom & Lore

The group’s name, “PLAVE” is a combination of the words “Play” and “Rêve” (“Dream” in French). The fandom name, PLLI, is a twist on the words “Play” and “Reality”, meaning that PLAVE and fans are together in reality.

According to their creators, the group’s universe revolves around five characters living in the virtual world of “Kaelum,” who have been granted the ability to communicate with humans by an “Earthly developer.”

PLAVE’s debut single, “Asterum”, refers to a mysterious space that exists between Earth and Kaelum. Additionally, it is known that the members often participate in the song-writing and production of their albums.

The group’s formation process is rather unique, as members were basically begging and tricking each other into joining.

Controversies

Controversial lyrics

There was once accusations that the real person behind PLAVE member Eunho used to write sexist lyrics for one of his mixtapes.

In particular, the song, called “B**ch”, include lyrics as below:

“Tall nose and a face the size of a fist

That fake smile, a pro at playing pretend

You’re a so-called b**ch b**ch b**ch

Anyone can tell you’re a b**ch b**ch b**ch

Tall heels and that lean body line

chin lifted, so chic

Pay for your own food you b**ch b**ch b**ch

Bring me a bottle of Febreze, you stink of soy bean paste you crazy b**ch.”

Additionally, several other songs released by the same person frequently use the word “b**ch”, and one track depicted a woman being stalked with questionable words.

However, since the true identity of Eunho remains undisclosed, nothing is confirmed about the case.

Plagiarism

Earlier in January, PLAVE was accused of plagiarising SEVENTEEN after posting the teaser poster for their 3rd mini album “Caligo Part 1”. However, as the posters for both PLAVE and SEVENTEEN utilized a newspaper concept, most people agree that accusing PLAVE of plagiarism is too far-reaching.
